Ajit Jaokar is the founder of the London based publishing company futuretext focussed on emerging Web and Mobile technologies. His thinking is widely followed in the industry and his blog, The OpenGardensBlog, was recently rated a top 20 wireless blog worldwide by readers of 'Fierce wireless'. Currently, he plays an advisory role to a number of mobile start-ups in the UK and Scandinavia. Ajit believes in a pragmatic but open Mobile Data industry. He is also a member of the web2.0 workgroup.

Altug Acar, Division Head of Business Development and representative to GSMA Services Review Group, Turkcell, Turkey
Altug Acar is the Division Head of New Business Development at Turkcell, leading mobile operator in Turkey, where he is responsible for identifying strategic growth opportunities and development of new services and businesses. He is a member of GSMA Services Review Group.
Before joining Turkcell, Mr. Acar was Director of Product Management at Semotus Solutions, a San Jose, CA based wireless applications and services firm. Prior to Semotus Solutions, Mr. Acar worked as an analyst for Red Herring Communications, a San Francisco-based media company. Previously, Mr. Acar worked with various Internet start-ups in Silicon Valley on product management and business development.
Mr. Acar holds an MBA degree from University of San Francisco and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Turkey. Mr. Acar also attended the University of California, Berkeley E-Business & Technology and San Jose State University E-commerce Management programs.
As co-founder and Executive Chairman of mBlox, Andrew provides the strategic vision for mBlox leveraging his deep industry expertise. Andrew has a wealth of experience in the mobile industry and is widely recognized as an expert in the areas of mobile content, billing and enabling services.
Prior to assuming the role of Executive Chairman in 2003, Andrew was the CEO of mBlox Ltd, which he co-founded in 1999 and led to profitability. From 1988 to 1996, Andrew was head of mobile technology for Olivetti SpA in Italy. There he led the European development of DECT (the predecessor of WiFi), and launched Europe's first wireless LAN system. In 1994, while at Olivetti, he became the founding technical head of Omnitel (now Vodafone Italia). Between 1996 and 1999 he was a Director at Connect Communications Group, a leading European provider of corporate telecommunications services, and was the Group Marketing Director with Azlan plc, the £200m European distributor of internet technology. His earlier background was in mobile technology R&D.
Andrew is Global Chair of the Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF), which he helped found in 2001 and to which he was re-elected in 2003 and 2005. He was elected global chair in 2008.
From 2005 to 2008, he served on the Board of PhonepayPlus, the UK regulator of premium-rate telecoms services.
Andrew is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the IET, with a degree from Cambridge University.

Cees leads the digital media design work for the European projects and is located in the frog Amsterdam office. Cees has over ten years experience in various interface design related roles in the software industry. Prior to frog he worked at Microsoft in Redmond where he started in 2000 in the MSN organization as a product designer for MSN Messenger and MSN Explorer. In 2003 he moved on to become product design lead in the Microsoft Windows User Experience design team, focusing primarily on the upcoming release of Microsoft Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 7. Before Microsoft he worked at iMedia, a Dutch software design agency working on projects for among others the Dutch leading telephony operator, KPN telecom.
In September 2005 he has joined frog Europe and is currently responsible for driving various software interface design projects across the European frog offices.

Claude Florin, Multimedia Marketing Manager, HP Communications and Media Solutions, Switzerland
Claude Florin is Marketing Manager at HP’s Communications and media solutions. He leads HP’s emerging applications development for telecom service providers worldwide . Some areas of focus include : design of multimedia user experiences, end-user segmentation and analysis and service delivery. He has been involved in delivering solutions for mobile and broadband video, VoIP and group communications using smartphones or PCs.
Florin joined HP in 1982. In 1995 Florin was R&D Manager for HP’s corporate development Europe and represented HP in European Commission ITC research programs. In 1997 he became solution manager for service management solutions based on the HP’s network management platform and participated in the deployment some early GSM networks. In 1999 he was named business manager for service provider solutions in the OpenCall Business Unit, covering convergent voice and data networks. In this functions he contributed to some of the world’s major deployments of VoIP such as Orange Business Services Voice over IP VPN, Fastweb’s quadruple play service. In 2001 he lead the launch of the OCMP software-based IVR and video processing with messaging and entertainment solution deployments at major operators such as AIS, DoCoMo, Rogers, SFR, Telefonica, T-Mobile, Vodafone.
Earlier, he founded AsOne music concerts y, with an audience of 40’000 in Switzerland. He worked in TV production at Videowest in San Francisco.

Daniel Collins, CTO, Wireless, Jasper Wireless, US
Daniel is a 20 year veteran of the wireless communications industry. Daniel began his career at Ericsson, where he worked in product development and product management roles and helped develop some of the world’s earliest GSM networks. He played a key role in the adaptation of GSM standards for use in North America and a major contributor to the launch of some of the earliest GSM networks in NA.
Daniel also served as an independent consultant for many years on 2.5G, 3G and IP technologies to tier one service providers around the world. In particular, Daniel was retained for eighteen months by AT&T Wireless as Chief Network Architect for the design and deployment of AT&T Wireless’s nationwide GSM/GPRS network. Daniel also worked with Alcatel North America as Vice President of Fixed Mobile Convergence and was responsible for Alcatel North America’s convergence strategies and solutions.
Daniel is the author of Carrier Grade Voice over IP, and co-author of 3G Wireless Networks, both published by McGraw-Hill.
David Stewart, Director of Investigations, Ofcom, UK
David Stewart’s Investigations Team carries out Ofcom’s work to enforce competition law, to resolve disputes (for example, concerning access and interconnection), to enforce regulatory rules and to act to protect consumers from unfair or illegal practices across the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors in the UK. He joined Ofcom in April 2005 after a number of roles in the international and UK telecoms industries, including as Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs for Cable & Wireless ‘national telecos’ division and Director of Regulatory Affairs and Public Policy for Energis Communications.

Hugo Barra, Director of Global Mobile Product Management, Google, UK
Hugo Barra is Group Product Manager and Global Product Lead for Mobile at Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) since joining the company in March 2008. He is based in London, where many of Google’s mobile products are developed today.
Prior to Google, Hugo was Business Director of Nuance Communications (NASDAQ: NUAN), where he co-founded the company’s global business unit focused on mobile voice search and mobile voice messaging software products − Nuance Mobile. During his nearly 5 years at Nuance, he held several roles including product management, product marketing, and business development, and launched a number of speech recognition products that positioned Nuance to become one of the world’s largest mobile software providers.
Previous to that, Hugo co-founded LOBBY7, a Boston-based mobile software company spun off of the MIT Media Lab and backed by SOFTBANK, acquired by Nuance Communications in 2003.
Earlier in his career, Hugo worked as a summer intern at McKinsey & Company, Merrill Lynch, Netscape Communications, and Walt Disney Imagineering.
A native of Brazil, Hugo received Bachelor of Science and Masters of Engineering degrees in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from MIT in 2000 and 2002, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science from MIT’s Sloan School of Management in 2000. He worked as a research assistant at the MIT Media Lab and MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab from 1996 to 2000, and was MIT Senior Class President from 1999 to 2000.
Hugh Griffiths, Business Director, Mobile, Windows Mobile, Microsoft, UK
Hugh Griffiths is the Director of Mobile Services at Microsoft Consumer & Online. He has overall responsible for the mobile business, which includes MSN content and applications, Windows Live communications services and mobile search. He is also responsible for the Windows Mobile retail channels to market.
Hugh joined Microsoft from O2 Telefonica Group where he was leading the companies approach for mobile Internet, search and advertising in Europe. Previously as Head of Data Products and Content, he was a key player in the development of O2’s leadership in online, mobile data and content from its earliest incarnation of Genie through the launches of O2.co.uk, O2 Active, and 3G. He was also responsible for the company business data products including Blackberry and the Mobile Windows powered XDA.
Additionally Hugh acts as an advisor to a number of organisations in both the private and public sector organisations including as a board member of the Mobile Marketing Association, and on the Editorial board of the Mobile Entertainment Forum.
James Parton, Head, Litmus Project, o2, UK
James has worked at Telefónica O2 UK for 8 years, during which time he has greatly contributed to O2's position as mobile data market leaders via the successful delivery and launch of more than 25 major products and service platforms including MMS, Mobile Video, the DVB-H Broadcast TV Trial, Mobile Music Streaming and Downloads, and the Ticketing and Interactive services within The O2, Europe's premier music and entertainment venue which won the "Best Use of Mobile" award at the 2007 UK Interactive Marketing and Advertising Awards.
James is currently focusing on new product development and innovation at Telefónica O2 UK, particularly via his leadership of the O2 Litmus initiative - a newly launched ‘community project’ dedicated to finding and nurturing the very best mobile, wireless and internet-enabled applications and services.
Previously, James spent 5 years working in BT Openworld in various product, commercial and business development roles; and was instrumental in developing BT's 3G strategy at BT Wireless in 2000.

Jan Larsson, Senior Strategy & Corporate Development Manager, Teliasonera, Sweden

Finding revenue sources is also a game of cutting loose from existing dependencies, hopefully without shedding too many tears. This goes beyond mere "life cycle management" as a major global carrier has a significant weight of the market in its own right. Jan Larsson has worked for TeliaSonera International Carrier since 1999 and has held a number of positions within the company, such as Voice business responsible in Germany, Head of Voice Buying, Head of Voice Strategy & Analysis and now as Senior Strategy & Business Development Manager.

John was a founder of Purple Software, one of the worlds first mobile games companies, in 1995. Purple Software grew rapidly to become one of the industry's leading independent developers of software applications for mobile devices. His role as Chief Technical officer culminated in the company being awarded the first ever BAFTA for a mobile computer game in 2002.
John is currently the Chief Technical Officer at ZingMagic Limited, a mobile software development company specializing in software and services for the mobile industry. ZingMagic own a set of IPR, in particular a range of games that require substantial artificial intelligence to play well. Recently John was the principal author of the Symbian Press book, "UIQ3, The Complete Guide", the definitive guide for developers wanting to write applications for the Symbian based UIQ 3 platform.

Dr Martin Steinbauer, Group Technology, Mobilkom, Austria
Martin Steinbauer is Project Manager in the mobilkom austria Group CTO Area Mobile Access and leading a Group Project on QoS. Besides this he is involved in the requirements setting for LTE and participating in joint research projects with the ftw. (Telecommunications Research Center Vienna) and TU-Wien (Vienna University of Technology).
Martin Steinbauer received his Doctoral (2001) and Diploma Degrees (1996) from Vienna University of Technology, Austria, both with distinction. During his diploma he worked for E-Plus Mobilfunk GmbH Germany. As a research assistant at TU-Wien he participated in the EU projekt METAMORP and in the European research initiative COST259, where he chaired a subworking group on directional channel modeling. He authored or co-authored several publications on mobile radio channel modeling and filed a patent application on MIMO channel estimation. Martin Steinbauer joined mobilkom austria in 2003 as Conceptual Planning expert working on strategy development and business modeling of radio access technologies. From 2005 on he was with Group Technology at mobilkom austria group services as a consulter for radio access technologies. Since February 2009, he is in the Group CTO Area.

Maurice Thompson is the Director - Business Development for the Open Development organization of Verizon Wireless. In this role he is responsible for identifying and enabling device solutions to access the Verizon Wireless network by utilizing the new Open Development device specifications and testing processes.
Mauro Montanaro, CEO, Fox Mobile Entertainment, US
Mauro Montanaro is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fox Mobile Group (FMG), the mobile content industry's largest vertically integrated company, wholly-owned by News Corporation. Mauro is responsible for leading Jamster worldwide and reports to the board of directors.
Mauro joins Jamster after more than a decade at Nokia, where he most recently served as Vice President of Customer and Market Operations for the South East Asia Pacific region. His responsibilities included managing handset sales and channel development in the fastest growing cellular market in the world.
Mauro held a variety of key positions at Nokia since his start in 1996 with strategy development. He was appointed to the Head of Strategy for Asia Pacific a year after joining the company and spent the next 10 years rapidly expanding the region for the company. He later was appointed to Director of the company’s Imaging Business Unit. In this role, he helped drive new growth in the mobile phone market with imaging capabilities by leveraging new business opportunities in the shift from voice to visual communications. He then moved to Vice President for Sales and Channel Management for its Multimedia Business Group, where he oversaw the sales and channel development for cellular handsets and mobile content services including imaging, games and mobile enhancements and created new regional channels.
Prior to joining Nokia, Mauro was a lecturer at the Helsinki School of Economics and has led consulting projects for Finnish and foreign companies with businesses operations in Finland. Mauro holds a masters degree in international law (JJD) from the Universita' di Bologna, Italy and an MBA from the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration, Finland in conjunction with the Manchester Business School, United Kingdom.
Mauro is a professional singer having released 5 albums and worked in music video production in Italy and the US for six years.
Mike Conradi, Partner, Kemp Little LLP, UK
Mike Conradi is a partner at specialist technology law firm Kemp Little LLP. His focus is on giving both commercial and regulatory advice to clients in the communications and technology sectors with clients including RIM, MySpace, Seeker Wireless and Comverse. His interest in the sector dates back to 1998-9 when he was placed on secondment to OFTEL, as it then-was, advising on international telecoms regulation. Mike is the editor of the Communications Law Handbook to be published later this year and is rated by the Legal Media Group as one of the world’s leading telecoms lawyers.
Nick Hunn, Vice Chairman, Mobile Data Association, UK
Nick Hunn is an executive Director and Vice Chairman of the Mobile Data Association, where he takes a special responsibility for promoting the development of eHealth to Government bodies, mobile networks and device manufacturers. He also advises on all aspect of wireless design and applications through his role in WiFore Consulting.
Nick has over thirty years of experience in design and technical evangelisation within leading edge technology companies, developing a diverse range of products, ranging from robot vision systems to laser gyroscopes, M2M communications systems and semiconductor processing equipment. He was also responsible for a world leading range of sperm and embryo freezers which was awarded the Queen’s Award for Technology.
Over the last fifteen years, Nick has been heavily involved with wireless standards and has been intimately involved with the development of Bluetooth. He is now one of the key evangelists for the new low energy Bluetooth technology.
Nick is well know as a writer and conference speaker, where he is recognised for his role in presenting the reality of technology - explaining the real world issues in deploying wireless and designing products. He is a fervent advocate for better design and usability, believing that if we want to expand wireless connectivity then we need to make it fit the customer’s needs rather than the technologist’s dreams.
Within the Bluetooth standards group, Nick is Vice Chair of the Bluetooth low energy evangelisation group, defining the new low power standard for web connected health devices and has been intimately involved in developing the existing Bluetooth Health Devices profile.
He holds an MA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University.

Dr. Nicholas Allott joined OMTP as CTO in 2005 from Fastmobile, a company specialising in cutting edge convergent messaging solutions, where he was the Technical and Strategy Director. Prior to this Nick held a number of executive positions within Motorola including acting as Engineering Director for European internet division. Consequently, Nick has a blend of commercial, technical and strategic experience from across the mobile value chain. Before entering the mobile industry, Nick held a number of consultancy positions serving Gaming, Multimedia, Internet and Data Analysis Industries working for companies such as Shell and Pearson Group. Nick has a Joint Honours degree in Computer Science and Cognitive Psychology, and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence focussed on Computational Linguistics and Neural Network Technologies. He has published several articles in this area.
Paul Golding, Founder, Wireless Wanders, UK
Paul Golding has spent almost 20 years in mobile technology and business. He was a key member of Motorola Wireless research team (14 patents awarded) up until he founded his own business in 1995. Since then, he has focused on "mobile internet" software technologies and techniques, from an architecture and programming perspective and is now a freelance consultant, author and blogger (Wireless Wanders). He has worked with mobile projects on all continents. Recently, he consulted as Chief Applications Architect for Motorola. In 2004, Wiley published Golding’s book „Next Generation Wireless Applications" which went into second edition last year. Right now, he is working for a number of operator and start-up companies and has nearly completed his first novel, a sci-fi story for kids.
One interesting development is that during the time Golding set up his own enterprise was the creation of a digital dashboard for mobile. It was based on the idea of desktop widgets, which is an idea that had come around again recently. Mobile widgets are being promoted again - let’s see if they work this time around. Golding also created the Zingo mobile internet portal, shown at GSM World Congress back in 1998, which was possibly the first time that a mobile portal had ever been seen. He continues to innovate in the area of mobile web technologies.

Peter Mottishaw has more than 15 years of experience in the communications industry. He has held positions in research, development and marketing with worldwide responsibility and has expertise in Service Assurance and Test & Measurement of IP, IN, mobile and circuit switched network and services. Prior to joining OSS Observer Peter was Worldwide Strategic Marketing Manager for Agilent's OSS business unit.
Peter held a number of marketing positions at Agilent and was responsible for the development of the portfolio management process and strategic plans for the OSS business unit. Prior to Agilent, he spent 12 years at Hewlett-Packard where he held both technical and management positions and played a key role in the creation of the acceSS7 business. Peter holds a B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics from Imperial College, London and an MBA from Edinburgh Business School. He is also the inventor of a number of OSS related patents. He is located in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Phil Mundy, CEO, Creative North, UK
Phil Mundy is Managing Director of Creative North, a leading games studio specialising in development for mobile platforms. Founded in 2004 and based in Yorkshire, Creative North delivers a wide range of mobile services to both public and private sector organisations. Creative North worked with Orange to deliver the iRB Rugby World Cup title and with Hasbro on Subbuteo Mobile. A highly successful mobile prospectus application was developed with University Wales Cardiff, which led to the University being nominated for a Times Higher Education Award in 2008. Phil has also pioneered Inliving, a project developed jointly with a leading social housing organisation, which has explored new ways of engaging young people new to the responsibilities of tenancy through mobile technology. Inliving is currently being adopted by housing associations across the UK.
Described by Mobile Marketing Magazine as being responsible for "first class games development" and by Channel 4 as a "true innovator", Phil won the 4talent award for innovation in 2008 and is noted for his collaborative working style. Partners include Orange, T-Mobile and MBlox and Phil is also working with a new partnership developed at Crossover Kids Lab in December 2008.
Phil holds a first class degree in Virtual Reality from University of Huddersfield, where he now lectures undergraduates in Games Development. Through his dedication to both academic and commercial work, Phil has gained a unique insight into the dynamic between business development and technological advancement. Through the Creative North Academy, Phil shares this knowledge with budding games developers by offering work placements and training schemes.

Roberto has a Master Degree in Computer Science. Since 1987 he has been involved in the development of Service Architectures for Telecom (TINA, OSA/Parlay and SIP), in activities related to IMS, and in the definition of services for the Business market (context-awareness, ambient intelligence and automotive).

Sean Kane, Global Head of Mobile for Bebo, heads the development of relevant and compelling mobile experiences for Bebo’s 45 million plus users worldwide, ensuring Beboers can interact and engage with friends, media and content whenever and wherever.
Prior to Bebo, Kane was General Manager International at Intercasting Corporation, a mobile social networking platform provider, where he was responsible for leading international markets and key product initiatives. Kane was also responsible for extending Intercasting’s international business model from single revenue source.
Previously Kane served as Senior Vice President, Business Development for Vivendi Universal Net, managing digital assets globally, responsible for gathering, managing and syndicating digital assets globally.
Other previous roles include General Manager, MP3.com Japan (acquired by Vivendi), and also Director of Technology for the City of San Diego.

Partners are supported with development tools, information, testing and certification,free on-line support, and access to the new Orange Partner global developmentcentres. Approved content and applications can be distributed to the Orangecustomer base. There are over 62,000 members of the program.
Steve joined Orange in December 2003 from Hewlett-Packard where he was director of software developerprogrammes. His background is predominantly in the marketing, technical and communicationsarea with senior roles at: Coopers & Lybrand (director of strategic business services), Digital Equipment (director of marketing), Sequent Computer Systems (director of telecommunications), Silicon Graphics (director of marketing for telecommunication and media), and Bluestone, which was later acquiredby HP, (VP of international marketing operations).
Suhail Bhat, Policy and Initiatives Director, Mobile Entertainment Forum, UK
Suhail joined MEF in September 2006 and is responsible for driving policy on issues affecting the global mobile entertainment industry and managing all MEF global initiatives to advance member interests and ensure continued industry growth.
Prior to MEF, Suhail worked at ICSTIS from 1998, the independent regulator for premium rate services, now known as PhonepayPlus. While at ICSTIS, Suhail ran industry-wide consultations and lead on the development of the highly influential ICSTIS Code of Practice which governs all mobile direct to consumer transactions in the UK and the Help notes. He was also responsible for working with key external stakeholders and regulatory bodies to advance policy initiatives in mobile content.
Sune Jakobsson, Research Manager, Open Services Group, Telenor, Norway
Sune Jakobsson has been working as a research scientist at Telenor R&D’s lab on "Open Services Platforms" in Trondheim, Norway since August 1998. Since August 2004 he is research manager for the open services group. He has experience in research, development and teaching in the fields of Web Services, middleware and e-commerce technologies. Currently he is involved in research in the areas of location-based services, and standardisation of open interfaces in telecommunication networks. He is actively involved in European and national projects related to location-based services, rich presence, context, SIM card development and model driven development. Before joining Telenor he worked at Stentofon, designing intercom switches. He received the degree "Sivilingeniør" from Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH), at Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1994. The Norwegian Institute of Technology considers the "Sivilingeniør" degree equivalent to the Master of Science degree in Engineering.
Thomas Magedanz, Head, Fraunhofer Fokus Competence Center NGNI, Germany
Thomas Magedanz (PhD) is full professor at the chair for Next Generation Networks (AV - Architekturen der Vermittlungsknoten in German) within the computer sciences and electrical engineering faculty of the Technische Universität Berlin, Germany, where he is educating master and PhD Students in the fields of multimedia service delivery platform technologies on top of converging fixed and mobile networks, next generation networks, and the future internet.
In addition, he leads the Next Generation Network Infrastructures (NGNI) Competence Center at the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS (formerly known as GMD Institute FOKUS) in Berlin, Germany, where he is responsible for the performance of major international R&D co-operations and related projects in the context of next generation telecommunications infrastructures. In this context he is a globally recognized pioneer for the development and delivery of advanced network and service technology testbeds and related software tools in the fields of next generation networks and the emerging future internet for both the academia and the industry. Famous examples include the Open IMS Playground as well and the Open SOA Telco Playground.
